JSI Reminds Clients of 988 and 10-Digit-Dialing Requirements

All telecommunications carriers and interconnected VoIP service providers should be preparing to implement the new three-digit code “988” for the National Suicide Prevention and Mental Health Crisis Hotline, which goes into effect July 16, 2022. Companies are required to make any necessary changes to their networks to ensure that users can dial 988 to reach the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, 1-800-273-8255 (TALK). To achieve this goal, carriers in areas that both use seven-digit dialing and use 988 as the first three numbers in seven-digit phone numbers are reminded that they must implement 10-digit dialing.

Milestone Reporting
If your company serves any of the area codes on the NPA transition list, you must meet the following milestones and notify NANPA via
 988@somos.com when each milestone is completed. All emails must include: Provider Name, OCN(s), State(s) and NPA(s).  

The troubleshooting contact information must include: Provider Name, Primary Contact, Telephone Number(s), Hours of Operation, Backup Contact/Escalations, Email Address and Telephone Number(s).
