The BEAD Program offers a historic $42.5 billion opportunity to close the digital divide but requires input from experienced providers.

Satellite services, including low earth orbit satellites, are gaining increasing attention from policymakers. While satellite technology has its place, such as reaching extremely remote locations or in potential partnership opportunities, changes to USF and BEAD must remain technology-neutral and fair. We must ensure that competition remains equitable and ethical, avoiding undue favoritism or scenarios that disadvantage providers who have made substantial investments in terrestrial broadband infrastructure.

Many critical issues impacting broadband providers can be effectively addressed at the state and local levels, where officials often have a more nuanced understanding of regional needs.

As the saying goes, “all politics is local,” and building relationships with state legislators, county commissioners, and municipal leaders creates valuable advocacy channels. Permitting processes, zoning regulations, and disputes between neighboring providers typically fall under state or local jurisdiction, making these levels of government equally important to engage with for meaningful solutions.
