Webinar: Mapping Your RDOF Auction Strategy
JSI recently hosted a free webinar to review the preliminary eligible census blocks for the Rural Digital Opportunity Fund (RDOF) released by the FCC. Looking at the list of eligible blocks and reserve prices is only the beginning of understanding your RDOF opportunities – mapping the possibilities is necessary in order to see if an RDOF strategy might fit with your current buildout plans, or perhaps some areas you didn’t expect to see available in the RDOF.
JSI has developed a mapping solution that is incredibly accurate and extremely user friendly. On this webinar, we described both the benefits and limitations of the FCC’s map then demonstrated JSI’s mapping tool. The FCC proposes to use census block groups as the minimum bidding unit, but it has sought comment on using census tracts. We showed what difference this might make in terms of cost and geography. Finally, we reviewed the three categories allowed in the limited challenge process and how you can tell if you need to file a challenge by the April 10th deadline.
JSI’s RDOF mapping tool can provide you with a helpful resource to determine RDOF opportunities in your area and the associated reserve prices. This webinar is ideal for any rural broadband providers interested in participating in the RDOF – those who are sure they want to, and those who are still studying the opportunities and rules.
