Numbering Utilization Report Form 502 Due by Aug. 1
Form 502 Must Be Filed by All Service Providers That Have Received Numbering Resources Directly from NANPA
Service providers that receive numbering resources directly from the North American Numbering Plan Administrator (NANPA) are reminded that they must file Form 502, the Numbering Resource Utilization and Forecast (NRUF), with NANPA by August 1, 2022.
The August filing will show the status of all numbering assignments as of June 30, 2022. Your NRUF Form 502 should categorize your numbers as “Assigned,” “Intermediate,” “Reserved,” “Aging,” or “Administrative.” Numbers not designated in these categories are deemed “Available for Assignment.”
One common problem on Form 502 is the misclassification of telephone numbers (TNs) that have been ported out of the original service provider’s network. Current rules require the carrier to which NANPA initially assigned the numbers to report ported-out numbers as Assigned on Form 502. If a ported-out number is disconnected in the Number Portability Administration Center (NPAC), it automatically returns (snaps back) to the original carrier assigned the number. These disconnected TNs must be categorized as Available in the original carrier’s Form 502 filing. The problem is that many service providers are not notified when one of their native numbers is disconnected in the NPAC and returned to their numbering inventory.
To assist our clients with ported TN status accuracy, we have developed the NPAC Query Portal within MyJSI, where clients can directly check the latest ported status of their assigned NPA-NXXs and 1K blocks.
The downloadable Excel reports include:
- Telephone Number
- Port Status
- Location Routing Number (LRN)
- Ported Date
- Line Type
- Operating Company Number (OCN)
- Service Provider Identifier (SPID)
- City and State
The NPAC Query Portal is accessible on a 24/7 basis to all MyJSI users, and no contract is required. Fees are based solely on the quantity of NXXs or 1K blocks requested. Querying a full NPA-NXX is $35, and a single 1K block is $5.
If you do not have a MyJSI account, you can request one by clicking on the signup link here: http://myjsi.jsitel.com/site/login.
