JSI Reminds Clients of CIC and RND Reporting Requirements
Annual Carrier Identification Code (CIC) Reporting
The new Annual Carrier Identification Code (CIC) Report covering the period of July 1 through December 31, 2023, is due by March 31, 2024. This report is now the sole tool used by NANPA to confirm if a CIC is being used in accordance with the CIC Assignment Guidelines and to determine if a CIC is subject to reclamation.
CIC Reminders:
- Reporting must be submitted in the new required format.
- NANPA may initiate CIC reclamation if the required report is not submitted by the due date.
- Make sure the CIC reports are accurate before submission as information provided is considered certified.
- CICs must be used in the manner they were requested and assigned within the CIC guidelines.
- Verify your company’s CIC contact on file with NANPA is current and accurate. If not, updates must be filed with NANPA.
Reassigned Numbers Database Monthly Reporting
The Reassigned Numbers Database is a resource to help lawful callers avoid making unwanted and potentially illegal calls to consumers with a new phone number that was previously assigned to another consumer.
All Voice Service Providers are required to submit monthly reports of their permanently disconnected telephone numbers to the Reassigned Numbers Database (RND). The reporting period is between the 11th and 15th of each month. The reports must be submitted to the RND by the 15th of each month.
Service Providers are required to submit the RND report every month, even if there have been no disconnected telephone numbers during the reporting period. If a service provider does not report in the RND, the RND Administrator cannot determine if the lack of a report by a service provider was because there were no disconnections during the reporting month or because the provider was in violation of the RND rules by not reporting that month’s disconnections. If a service provider does not have telephone numbers permanently disconnected during the reporting month, the service provider must access the RND and report NO DATA. Failure to submit monthly reports to the RND may result in monetary fines by the FCC.
