JSI Employees Donate Toys, Food, Clothing to Local Charities in Time for the Holidays
In the spirit of the holidays, JSI’s employees are opening their hearts and their wallets to help those in their communities who are struggling to make it a merry Christmas for their families. The company’s two largest offices both collected donations, toys and warm clothing for those without enough to eat or enough money to put gifts under the tree for their children.
Staff at JSI’s Maryland office outdid itself again this year with its annual toy and warm winter clothing collection for the Salvation Army’s toy drive. Donations poured into the office throughout the beginning of December, culminating in an array of games, dolls, bikes, scooters, cars, sleds, stuffed animals, sports equipment, VTech tablets, and puzzles, plus coats, hats and gloves to help the local corps of the Salvation Army. The corps’ new officer, Lt. Priscilla Ramaji, tagged along for the pick-up after hearing about the size of previous years’ donations. She started crying and said her prayers were answered when she saw the collection of 400+ toys in our lobby. JSI’s donation of more than $3,500 in items will help the Prince George’s County-based corps fulfill the Christmas wishes of its 1,200 Angel Tree applicants this year.
The JSI Texas office annually donates cash and toys to a local program providing food and gifts to needy families in Austin. The donation from the Texas staff to the Operation Blue Santa helps provide gifts and meals to families in the area. Operation Blue Santa is organized by the Austin Police Department, with support from the Texas National Guard, the Austin Fire Department, the Austin Utilities Department and Austin Energy, and serves local families with a holiday meal and Christmas presents for each child under the age of 14. This year they are expecting to serve over 5,000 families.
The holidays aren’t the only time JSI employees help out. Many volunteer with local organizations, donate to food banks and shelters, and raise money for various charities. The company has also made donations over the years to the American Cancer Society, the Children’s Cancer Foundation, the Michael J. Fox Foundation, Girls on the Run, the Children’s National Medical Center and the Johns Hopkins Scleroderma Center.
