In Case You Missed It: BDC Filing Extension
On July 25, 2023, the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC’s) Broadband Data Task Force announced that it is extending the September 1, 2023 Broadband Data Collection (BDC) deadline to September 15, 2023. The reason for the extension is to correct a processing error in the June 30, 2023, Fabric data that caused missing broadband serviceable locations (BSLs), which was already sent to broadband service providers.
To address this issue, CostQuest will send an updated version of the Fabric to broadband service providers no later than August 1, 2023. Note that the original Fabric release includes “rel_3_1” in the file name, while the updated Fabric release will include “rel_3_2” in the file name.
To assist providers with this change, CostQuest will provide a list of updated Fabric locations so providers can identify whether they have service available at any of the locations that were added in the revision.
If filers have already completed their BDC filings, they will need to de-certify and re-upload their availability data to ensure they are reporting against all Fabric locations included in the updated Fabric file from CostQuest.
