FCC Extends Filing Deadline for Upcoming Incentive Auction
Also Revises Data/Prices for Reverse Incentive Auction
Late last week, the FCC released a Public Notice delaying the application windows for those interested in bidding on spectrum in the upcoming Incentive Auction. The filing window for those that plan to participate in the “forward auction” will now open on January 26, 2016, at Noon Eastern and close at 6:00 p.m. Eastern on February 9. The FCC also pushed back the “reverse auction” application window for the television station owners. That window now opens at on December 8, 2015, and closes on January 12, 2016.
The delays are because the FCC has modified the underlying data and prices for the reverse auction that “corrects information for a small number of stations and adjusts population data for stations that are affected by these corrections.” Because of these fixes, the FCC adjusted the opening bid prices for the affected areas. As a result of these changes, the FCC delayed the application windows for both the reverse and forward auctions.
