Copper Retirement Notification Requirements Move to OMB for Approval
The FCC’s Copper Retirement Order became effective on November 18, 2015, for all portions of the order except for the notification requirements (see JSI’s November 3, 2015 e-Lert). The FCC has completed its review of the notification requirements and those rules have now been submitted to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for approval.
Once approved by OMB, companies will be required to comply with the notice requirements. The transmittal to OMB has again clarified that the network notification requirements will not be applicable to companies that have a rural exemption from Section 251(c) requirements.
JSI will notify clients when OMB approves the copper retirement notice requirements and these rules take effect.
