2018 Lifeline Recertification Elections Begin on May 15
Eligible telecommunications carriers (ETCs) that wish to have the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) manage their 2018 Lifeline recertification process may begin submitting their election requests on May 15, with all requests due by June 30, 2017. USAC will begin the 2018 recertification process in September 2017 for January 2018 anniversary dates. ETCs with multiple Study Area Codes (SACs) may choose USAC to recertify for all or selected SACs.
If this is the first time your company has requested that USAC complete the recertification for you, you will be required to complete the recertification election spreadsheet and submit it to LIverifications@usac.org. If USAC completed your recertifications in 2017, there is no need to resubmit the recertification spreadsheet unless your contact information has changed.
Keep in mind that USAC uses the National Lifeline Accountability Database (NLAD) to retrieve subscriber information, including anniversary dates, so the accuracy of information within NLAD is essential to USAC’s ability to manage the process. Carriers are responsible for updating NLAD within 10 business days of receiving any change to an existing subscriber’s information. ETCs in states that manage Lifeline recertification (e.g., Texas) may not opt to have USAC manage its recertification process.
