Karen Hoffman, JSI's Network Services manager, recently marked more than a dozen years' behind-the scenes numbering work as a member of the Common Interest Group of Routing and Rating (CIGRR) Committee. The CIGRR Committee meets four times yearly to review and discuss issues affecting the LERG™ or LERG database (BIRRDS). CIGRR is comprised of representatives from all segments of the telecom industry; i.e., the RBOCs, large and small incumbent LECs, CLECs, wireless carriers, and the consulting community. A member since 1997, Karen has been instrumental in representing JSI client interests during mandated changes in the industry, such as thousands-block pooling and local number portability.
Karen is also a member of the Local Number Portability Administration Working Group (LNPA-WG). Karen regularly attends the monthly LNPA-WG conference calls in support of the porting services JSI provides clients. With the FCC-mandated rule changes involving simple ports and one-business-day ports, Karen's participation ensures that the interests of JSI clients and other independent providers are represented. Karen's pro-active stance also ensures that, as a company, JSI remains abreast of all developments and changes in porting procedures.
