LECs and other service providers must be aware of new NXX openings within their switch serving area, as well as new NPA openings within the entire North American Numbering Plan (NANP). If these codes are not programmed in your switch, customers will not be able to complete calls successfully – and you’ll be faced with increasing subscriber complaints.

To assist clients, JSI offers the NPA-NXX Code Activation Report (NNCAR), a monthly report providing LECs with all new NXX openings in the LATAs of their choice and all new NPA openings in the NANP. Information found in the NNCAR includes:

• NPA-NXX
• Code Opening Date
• Operating Company Number
• Company Name
• Switch CLLI
• Special Service Code
• Portability Indicator (PI)
• Rate Center Name
• State

If your company currently has no systematic method in place to determine new code openings, you should consider the NNCAR. JSI makes subscriptions available on an annual basis, with several LATA ranges from which to choose. JSI sends out the report on a monthly basis, and clients may choose to get it in hard copy format or electronically via e-mail.
